Frequently Asked Questions

  • Hubavet provides veterinary remote consultation services in the United States. Service availability depends on the type of service provided and applicable state laws. Current availability is outlined below.

    Direct-to-Consumer Veterinary Consultations (General Practitioners)

Direct-to-consumer consultations with licensed general practitioner (GP) veterinarians are currently available in the following states and territories:

    • California

    • Utah

    • Florida

    • Nevada

    • Puerto Rico

These consultations are provided by licensed veterinarians to pet owners and are only available in jurisdictions where veterinary telemedicine is permitted and where a valid Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR) exists or can be legally established under applicable law.

As additional licensed veterinarians are onboarded and verified, direct-to-consumer GP consultations may become available in additional U.S. states and territories. This list is reviewed and updated to reflect current availability.

    Radiology Consultations

Radiology services on Hubavet are available nationwide.

Veterinary radiologists provide diagnostic image interpretation and professional opinions based on submitted medical images. These services are not direct-to-consumer telemedicine and do not establish a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). Clinical responsibility and client communication remain with the consulting veterinarian.

    Oncology Consultations

Veterinary oncology consultations are currently available in:

    • New York

Oncology consultations are provided as professional consultations supporting licensed veterinarians and do not involve direct-to-consumer telemedicine or the establishment of a VCPR with pet owners.

    How are jurisdictions determined?

Jurisdictional availability on Hubavet is determined by veterinarian licensure and applicable state and territorial laws. Hubavet verifies licensure and jurisdictional eligibility prior to enabling any consultation.

    Are jurisdictions updated?

Yes. Hubavet reviews and updates the list of jurisdictions served as licensed veterinarians and specialists are onboarded and verified to ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

  • No. Hubavet’s platform is available in select states and Puerto Rico. Specific services may vary based on applicable state veterinary laws, licensure requirements, and VeterinaryClientPatient Relationship (VCPR) regulations.

  • All veterinarians providing services through Hubavet must hold an active license in the jurisdiction where the animal patient is located and must comply with that jurisdiction’s veterinary telemedicine regulations.

Veterinarians are not permitted to provide services outside of their licensed jurisdictions.

  • Veterinary services are provided only where permitted by law. Veterinarians may deliver telemedicine services solely in states or territories where they are appropriately licensed and legally authorized to practice.

  • Certain Hubavet disclosures and agreements are state-specific and apply only when services are provided by a California-licensed veterinarian to a client located in California.

For services provided in other jurisdictions, Hubavet complies with the applicable laws of the state or territory where the animal patient is located.

  • Hubavet’s jurisdictional availability and telemedicine practices are disclosed on this page and referenced in Hubavet’s Terms of Service and telemedicine disclosures.
